A Taste of Scotland Right Here in New Zealand
The Hororātā Highland Games bring together the very best of traditional Scottish competition and rural Kiwi hospitality. At the heart of the event are the competitions — and we are proud to be the only event in the South Island to host the full programme of traditional Highland disciplines.
From heavy athletics and Highland dancing to piping and drumming, competitors travel from across New Zealand and beyond to take part in this one-day spectacle.
Delivered by the Hororātā Community Trust, a registered charity, the Games have grown into a cornerstone event for the community. More than 200 volunteers — Clan Hororātā — bring the festival to life each year, reflecting the strong community spirit behind the event.
