HIGHLAND GAMES
Fern Tug O’ War
Tug O’ War is an age-old tradition at any Highland Games and has become a major crowd-pleaser at the Hororata Highland Games. The Fern Tug O’ War sees an intense battle of strength, teamwork, and sheer willpower play out. Teams of six compete throughout the day in heats, working towards reaching the final TUG! The crowd passionately and loudly supports each team as they work to pull the opposing team across the line.
Two adult categories, each with a $1,000 prize pool, and a youth category with gold medals up for grabs.

Rules
The Fern Tug O’ War is a fabulous team event and heaps of fun! This year we have reduced the team numbers from 8 to 6. This is allowable within Scottish rules and hopefully makes it easier for people to get a team together.
Teams will have an area where they can set up a gazebo to store gear for the day.
Entries open 1st September and close 5th November.
Late entries may be accepted if the category is not full.
This event runs wet or fine. We have wet weather contingencies.
