A true mechanical swap meet catering for vintage, veteran, classic, cars, motorcycles, parts, tools and mechanical-related stuff.

The Hororātā Mechanical Swap Meet has a NO BRIC-A-BRAC and HOUSEHOLD JUNK policy. If you bring china and soft toys to this event you will be told to go home.

Hororata Highland Games
Grab your whole Clan and join our community as we celebrate the Hororātā Highland Games held the Saturday before Canterbury Anniversary each year.
The Hororātā Highland Games attract 10,000 people annually and sees 500 competitors in Scottish events including; caber tossing, highland dancing, and pipe band competitions. All surrounded by a rich tapestry of culture and tastings. This is a festival where your entire family can get off the bleachers and have a go!

Glow festival
Hororata Glow Festival
You are invited to GLOW with our community. This biennial event will be back next Saturday, May 10th, 2025.
The Hororātā Community Trust is excited to bring the Hororata Glow Festival to our community for the fourth time.
The hot air balloon Night Glow will again light up the sky. Be amazed as these giant balloons glow in unison to music*. Prior to the Night Glow performance, people will be able to walk inside a giant cold inflated hot air balloon as well as interact with the balloon crews.
Surrounding the hot air balloons will be a magical festival where everything will GLOW!
The Hororātā Glow Festival will host the best of Selwyn food and wine, attractions and activities. As well as offering a cultural feast with 40 different food vendors.
*the balloons do not leave the ground during the performance.
