The Hororata Community Trust is excited to bring the Hororata Glow Festival to our community for the third time. Building on the past two events the Hororata Glow Festival promises to be even more spectacular in 2021.
The hot air balloon Night Glow will again light up the sky. Be amazed as these giant balloons glow in unison to music*. Prior to the Night Glow performance, people will be able to walk inside a giant cold inflated hot air balloon as well as interact with the balloon crews.
New for 2021 a spectacular lighting effects show with DJ Craig Shaw cranking the tunes. This will follow the Night Glow.
Surrounding the hot air balloons will be a magical festival where everything will GLOW! For more information to come on activities and attractions, CLICK HERE.
The Hororata Glow Festival will host the best of Selwyn food and wine, attractions and activities. As well as offering a cultural feast with 40 different food vendors.
To manage crowd size this year there will be no gate sales with all tickets to be sold prior to the event online or at selected locations. This will ensure there is plenty of space and food vendors for everyone to have an enjoyable event. Tickets will go on sale soon! Watch out for the early bird specials. CLICK HERE FOR TICKETS
Plenty of free on-site parking, with an expert crew of volunteers to make getting in and out of the event smooth.
Self Contained motorhomes are welcome to park overnight.
Location: Hororata Domain, 61 Hororata Road. Only 60 minutes from Christchurch airport or Rangiora, 45 minutes from Rolleston, 45 minutes from Ashburton. We recommend if you are coming from Christchurch direction to come through Darfield, not up Bealey Rd. This will ensure traffic is split between the two roads and hopefully avoids any major traffic jams.
This is not a dog-friendly event, please leave your pooches at home the balloons may frighten them. No BYO alcohol or glass, there are two licensed bars at the event, including The Laboratory with their craft beers and ciders. You are welcome to bring a picnic, however, there are heaps of food vendors at the event.
Postponement date: Sunday 9th May. If the event is postponed to Sunday the 9th May the festival will run regardless of the weather.
*Please note: The weather and wind may affect when the Night Glow happens and the type and length of their performance. 5.30 pm is the earliest time the Night Glow could happen. The balloons will not leave the ground at any point during the performance. No refunds will be given if the event is postponed or the balloons are unable to perform.
If COVID 19 affects the running of this event, refunds will be available for tickets purchased. The Hororata Community Trust is a member of the New Zealand Event Association and we will be implementing the industry best practice guidelines at this event.
