The Hororātā Hall is busier than ever, with people using the Hall five to seven days a week for everything from Carol’s Closet and Paint n Chat to meetings, church groups, workshops, celebrations and community events.

“We don’t have to wait until the restoration is complete to make it more practical and comfortable. Some small improvements mean the Hall is better set up and more usable for a wide range of activities,” says Hororātā Community Trust Executive Officer Cindy Driscoll.

Thanks to funding from Rabobank’s Good Deeds Competition, the Hall now has a new set of lightweight tables and tablecloths, making it easier to set up for events and cater for groups of all sizes. Hororātā Primary School has also generously donated a large screen TV, while free Wi-Fi and a well-equipped kitchen make the Hall a great venue for meetings, workshops, family celebrations and community events.

Having the Hall available for the community is a priority for the Trust. That’s why, when the restoration begins, the work will be completed in stages so the Hall can continue to be used for much of the project.
