HIGHLAND GAMES

Heavy events training day

Train in the unique Scottish Heavy Athletics, which require a mix of strength, athleticism, and sheer willpower. This day will prepare you for competing in the Amateur Heavy Championship at the Hororata Highland Games and other Heavy Events.

Training Details

This is perfect for anyone who would like to experience what is involved in Heavy Events including rules, technique, training, competitions and development. You don’t need any experience to attend this day, but if you have competed before you will still benefit from this day. Small groups will mean individual skill levels can be adapted.  This is a step up from a ‘Have A Go’ event. The hope is that attendees will be considering competing in the Amateur Heavy Championship at the Hororata Highland Games (doesn’t have to be this year).

You will receive expert coaching in Heavy event disciplines including  Caber Toss,  Hammer Throw, Stone Putt, Weight for Distance, and Sheaf Toss. All traditional Scottish Heavy athletics sports.
