Hororata Night Glow

Experience hot air balloons firing up the night sky!

Balloonists from all over New Zealand are travelling to this event, the only one of its kind in the South Island, providing a unique opportunity to experience hot air balloons lighting up the night sky, glowing in unison to music.

Surrounding the Night Glow will be an autumn festival including music from Holly Kimber,  Volts and The Easy Hearts. Also enjoy the Sensational Selwyn Food and Wine Trail, children’s entertainment and an amazing array of street food, this unique autumn festival will entertain the whole family. Buses will be running from Rolleston, departing the Rolleston Rec centre at 2.30pm $16.00 per person or Burnside Park in Christchurch departing 2.30pm $20.00 per person. Buses will depart Hororata approximately 8.30pm. Purchase your bus ticket when you purchase your ticket for the event on Eventfinda.

Plenty of free on site parking, with an expert crew of volunteers to make getting in and out of the event smooth.

Please note the car park will open at 2.30pm and close to incoming traffic at 6.30pm. Self Contained motorhomes are welcome to park overnight, click here for details.

Location: Hororata Domain, 61 Hororata Road. Only 40 minutes from Christchurch airport, 30 minutes from Rolleston, 45 minutes from Ashburton or Rangiora.

This event is brought to you by the Hororata Community Trust, the same community which brings you the Hororata Highland Games. All profits from this event will benefit our community.

This is not a dog friendly event, please leave your pooches at home the balloons may frighten them. No BYO or glass. You are welcome to bring a picnic however there are heaps of food vendors at the event. 

Postponement date: Sunday 29th April. Please note balloons are subject to weather. If the event is postponed to Sunday the 29th April the festival will run regardless of weather. No refunds will be given if the balloons are unable to perform.
