Hororata Museum and Domain Walk
St John’s Church. Hororata, Hororata

Join the Hororata Historical Society on a walking tour exploring our communities unique history. Starting at the St John’s Stone Church ending through the Domain to Coton’s Cottage and Museum. This is a 2 hour walk suitable for all ages and fitness, pram friendly.

Historic Glentunnel
Glentunnel Museum, Glentunnel

This guided walk starts at the Glentunnel Museum where you can browse exhibits of pottery, brick industry, coal mining and agriculture of this area. Maps will be issued to the walkers with a route to the Glentunnel Library, old pottery site, stables and then onto the early cottages and the Malvern Cemetery. Cancelled if wet.

Hororata Parish Spring Fair
Hororata Domain, Hororata

Held annually on Labour day this is a great family free fun day out with market stalls, children’s entertainment, a white elephant auction, live music and much more. This year the Hororata Parish will join in the Suffrage 125 celebrations. Celebrating the 125th anniversary of New Zealand woman’s right to vote and the instrumental role local Sir John Hall played in this significant moment in our history.

Homebush Stables Open Day
Homebush Road, Coalgate, Coalgate

Come and enjoy this magnificent place called Homebush. Wander around the garden of trees and rhododendons (plantings began in 1851).   View the Homebush Stables historic buildings including the water driven turbine and enjoy coffee and lunch in the Swinging Tree Café. Entry $15.00, children under 14 free.

A traditional Scottish Highland Games with a kiwi twist. Heavy competitions (caber, sheath etc), Highland Dancing, Pipe Bands, Tug o’ War, market stalls, fairground, Have a Go, Junior Warriors and so much more.
